The contributors to this MOOCs and Open Education Around the World book are focused on the various opportunities as well as the dilemmas presented in this new age of technology-enabled teaching and learning. Although two book forewords and 29 chapters cannot offer a full accounting of all the MOOC and open education initiatives currently underway around the world, we believe that many of the important goals for this volume were met. We strongly encourage the reader to contact one of the book contributors with questions and concerns as personal stories and insights.
MOOCs and Open Education Around the World explores and illuminates implementations of MOOCs and open education techniques across the whole world. Grasp the challenges and barriers facing different organizations and institutions as well as entire countries in implementing MOOCs and other forms of e-learning and open education. Part of the reason is that online and blended courses fail to effectively utilize the technologies strapped to students. At this very moment, tens of millions of learners around the planet are navigating through seemingly endless pages of their online courses. Understand how MOOCs and open educational resources are impacting learners in different ways around the world. The emergence of MOOCs where learners can number in the hundreds of thousands has made the present situation even more precarious. For more information please see the new Open Education MOOCs Book.
