| In effect, digital literacy is the ability to browse, locate, filter, synthesize across, and eventually use information appearing in multiple formats and in a wide range of sources that can lead to communication of what one discovered as well as the production of still additional information. Dr Curt Bonk is a popular e-learning book who teaches in the department of Instructional Systems Technology and he is also adjunct in the School of Informatics at IU. Dr. Curtis Bonk was recently a Senior Research Fellow with the Advanced Distributed Learning Lab within the Department of Defense. In 1996 there were 10,000 scholarly databases online; now they exceed 18,000. In addition to being a popular e-learning book, Dr. Bonk has received the Most Outstanding Achievement Award from the U.S. Distance Learning Association, the CyberStar Award from the Indiana Information Technology Association, and the Most Innovative Teaching in a Distance Education Program Award from the State of Indiana.
